Welsh Fairy Tales, Myths and Legends

Welsh Fairy Tales, Myths and Legends is a talk at Hay Castle.

Why does the Welsh flag have a dragon on it? How did the town of Beddgelert get its name? Should you ever trust the magical Tylwyth Teg?

Claire Fayers’ best-selling collection of Welsh Fairy Tales, Myths and Legends, takes some of Wales’s best-loved stories, as well as many that are less well-known, and retells them through a thoroughly modern lens.

In this lively and informative session, Claire will talk about the storytellers who came before her, and share some of the challenges of tracking down half-remembered tales and adapting them for a younger audience. She’ll also give a sneak preview from her new collection, Welsh Giants, Ghosts and Goblins, coming this summer.
