The Temple Bar Inn

Restaurant with rooms

GINO NAMEAn excellent village pub and restaurant, The Temple Bar Inn is situated in the centre of the village of Ewyas Harold and is an ideal sustenance stop or place to stay for walkers, cyclists, business people and visitors wishing to explore the Welsh Marches, Black Mountains, Offa’s Dyke, the Golden Valley, Hay-on-Wye, and the River Monnow. Numerous local walks are aplenty, and it is only 12 miles to both the City of Hereford and the market town of Abergavenny.

For walking enthusiasts, the Temple Bar Inn sits at the start of the Black Mountains, and just over an hour away from Pen-Y-Fan and the Brecon Beacons.

Fascinating reports say that the building has been used over the years as a courthouse, corn exchange, and a stable. First licensed in the 1850s, it is clad with beautiful Virginia Creeper, creating a real focal point in the village as it changes seasons, with glorious summer hanging baskets.

Today contemporary interior design mixes with retained character. You’ll find a well-stocked bar with local ales and spirits and a mouth-watering menu, which is adjusted with the seasons to ensure the use of local fresh produce. As well as the lovely airy restaurant, there is outdoor seating available too, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, and Sunday Lunch. See the latest menus here.

The 4 well-appointed ensuite rooms are on the first floor and are all doubles, with one that can be converted to a family room. Decorated in muted colours, rooms have been aptly named after local areas, which is a nice touch. Each has a smart TV with Netflix, espresso machines, and Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.
