Hereford Guided Walks – Building Hereford Through the Ages
The Historic City of Hereford’s varied architecture reflects its growth & development through the ages. The Hereford Guild of Guides walk will show you Norman, Medieval, Jacobean, Georgian & Victorian building styles and give a flavour of the city’s fascinating history.
Starting from The Guild of Guides stand in Hightown you will visit the the classical style Shire Hall and the Edwardian Baroque style Town Hall.
You will see and hear the story of “The House That Moved” & the Norman market place with it’s burgage plots still visible.
Passing through Church Street with it’s Georgian facades, you will visit two examples of architectural recycling, the Bishop’s Palace dating from the 12th century and finally view the Victorian Gothic City Museum with its extraordinary facade and a neoclassical church.
You won’t have time to enter any buildings, but these can be visited separately.
