Hymn Singing Weekend at Monkland
Sing classic hymns from Hymns Ancient & Modern in the parish of the compiler, Rev Sir Henry Williams Baker, and take part in BCP Sunday services in his church of All Saints, Monkland.
On the Saturday we will sing a selection of Hymns Ancient & Modern and listen to some talks about hymns, including one about the music of one of the best loved Victorian hymn tune composers, J B Dykes.
On the Sunday we will have a Book of Common Prayer Eucharist and Evensong, both with hymns from Hymns Ancient & Modern. The Evensong will follow one held in 1871 for which a copy of the order of service had survived. All music will be provided.
