Castle House Hotel
Hotels & Restaurant
Castle House is a beautiful Grade II listed boutique hotel in a quiet part of Hereford city, a short walk from the historic Hereford Cathedral. Owned and run by the Watkins, a local Herefordshire farming family, much of the hotel’s produce and fresh flowers are grown on its nearby Ballingham Hall Farm.
The hotel has 24 luxury, individually designed guestrooms, 8 of which are in a nearby elegant townhouse, Number 25. Every room has an ensuite bathroom with L’Occitane toiletries. On arrival guests will find a ‘Welcome to Herefordshire’ basket of goodies with local fruit juice, local crisps and biscuits. Tea and fresh coffee-making facilities are provided, as well as a small decanter of Sherry. Some of the rooms at the front are more like apartments and there is a specially adapted ground floor suite for those with mobility concerns.
In the main hotel there is a stylish Waterside Restaurant and Bar where the atmosphere is light and friendly and very popular with locals. The hotel has a pretty, secluded garden which runs down to the old Hereford Castle’s moat. When the weather is more clement, the garden’s Terrace is always busy with al fresco meals, coffees and drinks.
Twice-winner of the Visit Herefordshire Awards for Excellence and one of the Telegraph Hotel Guru’s 10 Best UK hotels, Castle House is the perfect base when visiting or travelling around Herefordshire. The hotel may be booked for Exclusive Use and is the perfect venue for small, elegant weddings and private parties.

Gabor is passionate about sourcing his ingredients from a variety of local, artisan producers as well as the kitchen garden on the hotel’s Ballingham Farm, His menus are imaginative and brilliantly executed, and it’s no wonder that the Castle Restaurant is one of the most popular in the county.
The Bar & Bistro is the place to catch up with friends over coffee and pastries, a light lunch, afternoon tea, drinks and cocktails, or dinner in the heart of Hereford. It has a wonderfully informal atmosphere and some of the best cocktails in Hereford, created by George Watkins, son of the owner!
