Huntlands Farm Upholstery Courses are run by Lucy Brodie, who also offers excellent accommodation facilities at Huntlands Farm.
Lucy is a qualified upholsterer certified by the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers the courses provide training in both modern and traditional upholstery techniques, utilizing a variety of materials and methods. Participants can opt for either a five-day or a two-day course, each offering valuable skills and insights into the world of upholstery.
Five-Day Course Highlights:
- Learn traditional or modern upholstery, covering the fundamental skills and techniques required to upholster furniture.
- Acquire skills in simple repairs, including addressing frame issues such as filling in holes and gluing joints.
- Gain expertise in handling fabrics and materials correctly during cutting, stitching, and fixing. This includes working with webbing, hessian, animal hair/coir fibre, and wadding.
- Master the correct usage of tools, including hammers, tack-lifters, and ripping chisels.
- Understand and adhere to Health & Safety guidelines.
Two-Day Course Highlights:
- Receive instruction in traditional or modern upholstery, encompassing the essential skills and techniques for furniture upholstery.
- Learn simple repair techniques, addressing frame issues such as filling in holes and gluing joints.
- Develop proficiency in handling fabrics and materials during cutting, stitching, and fixing. This involves working with webbing, hessian, animal hair/coir fibre, and wadding.
- Familiarize yourself with the correct usage of tools, including hammers, tack-lifters, and ripping chisels.
- Understand and follow Health & Safety guidelines.
