National Garden Scheme (NGS) Herefordshire
Gardens to visit
Stunning views, special plants and gorgeous gardens – we have more than 40 gardens opening this year across Herefordshire. Discover these hidden gems and help us raise money at the same time (all admission money goes to our beneficiaries, including some the UK’s best-loved nursing and hospice charities).
Ranging from small cottage gardens to more formal affairs, some gardens are dotted with sculptures, some are havens for wildlife…all of them are a delight to visit. Children often go free, and many of the gardens welcome dogs on leads. Lots offer homemade teas and cakes too, perfect for a lovely day out!
Thanks to the generosity of garden owners, volunteers and visitors, the National Garden Scheme has donated over £67 million to its nursing, health and gardening charities since 1927. Originally set up to support district nurses, the National Garden Scheme now also supports charities doing amazing work in gardens and health, granting bursaries to help community gardening projects.
Exclusive Access
You can visit a number of our Herefordshire gardens “By arrangement”, on dates and times that can be agreed directly with the garden owner. It’s a great way to enjoy an exclusive visit with friends, perhaps with your social or gardening group. Some gardens accept groups of as few as 2 people, some prefer more. Just check out the details of our “By arrangement” gardens online or in our county booklet and get in touch with the owner to agree a date.
Share The Love
If you – or someone you know – loves gardening and would be interested in opening to the public once or twice a year, maybe more, please do get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
