Its programme covers live theatre, dance, music, cinema, comedy clubs, exhibitions, talks, classes, workshops and creative projects. The Courtyard cater for people of every age and disposition.

The county’s leading arts venue, which saw a £1.5 million transformation in 2020 adding a brand-new shop, mezzanine restaurant and rooftop terrace, is a fantastic resource for the people of Herefordshire and beyond. The venue hosts a 400-seat main theatre, a 120-seat studio theatre, rehearsal rooms, a gallery, meeting and conference areas and an award-winning Food and Drink department serving a wide range of meals, snacks and drinks.

The Courtyard supports a thriving Youth Theatre as well as an adult participation programme and stages everything from cutting edge drama to pantomime. Other classes and workshops include Garrick Singers, Yoga, Writing Room, Life Drawing, Film Making Club and Dancing Tots.

Cinema showings vary from family-friendly animations and independent films to blockbusters. The Courtyard Cinema hosts the acclaimed Borderlines Film Festival and strives to champion local and emerging film makers, screening short films before full length features. They also host regular bespoke event cinema including baby-friendly screenings, dementia friendly screenings, relaxed screenings and dog-friendly screenings.

The Courtyard’s gallery (and portable pop-up gallery) walls are always adorned with an extensive selection of artwork from local upcoming artists, national and international exhibitions to installations and interactive projects.

The Courtyard’s brand-new Shop shines a spotlight on locally made, sustainable products, putting them at the heart of its shopping community. There is something for everybody including a host of locally made children’s gifts, candles, ceramics, textiles and jewellery plus much more.

Aside from its eclectic programme of events, The Courtyard also plays host to a number of visitors who attend for a variety of other reasons. Business conferences, children’s parties, christenings or a relaxing lunch with friends are just some of the ways guests can enjoy the beautiful, glass fronted Courtyard building.
